Week of September 19th

Important Dates:
District Magazine Drive -- Magazine Order Turn-in days: 9/20, 9/27, 9/29
September 30 -- Early Dismissal
October 10 -- Columbus Day -- No School

Reading: This week we will be focusing on drawing conclusions, doing vocabulary activities, and an extended response as we read a selection in our reading anthology - "A BOY CALLED SLOW". A vocabulary quiz will be given on Thursday.

English: In English we will continue with the unit "The Sentence." Subjects in imperatives, conjunctions and run-on sentences will be the focus. The chapter one test will be given on Friday.

Spelling: Unit 4 pretest will be given on Monday. Homework is due on Thursday. The spelling test will be given on Friday.

Science: In science we will begin chapter 5, Energy and Ecosystems. We will read and learn about different plant structures that help make food. We will learn the steps in photosynthesis and why some plants change color in the fall. A special homework assignment involving collecting leaves will come home later in the week.

Social Studies: In social studies we will complete chapter 4 "Spain Builds an Empire." The chapter test is on Wednesday. I will be sending home a "How to Study" sheet on Monday. It will be worth two bonus points if signed and returned by the day of the test. The students should be reviewing their notes and end of the chapter reviews. We will have a review game in class on Tuesday.

Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: This week in math we will complete chapter two, Multiplication. Two and three digit multiplication along with the problem solving strategy of Find a Pattern will be the focus. There will be a test on Thursday. A practice test will be sent home on Tuesday.
