Thank you for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special. The lunches and breakfast were delicious. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Ask your child about the Life-Saving grams fundraiser sponsored by Project Challenge. It is for the American Red Cross to help victims in Japan. If a student would like to participate, the form(s) and donation need to be turned in before May 25th! Extra "grams" can be printed from our school website!
Thursday is our 5th grade celebration. There will be games followed by a pizza lunch. After lunch, we will be heading over to Lakeview to catch a sneak preview/dress rehearsal of their musical, Fiddler on the Roof. It should be a great day!

May 13th- Early release 11:00
May 16th- Fifth graders visit to Lakeview
May 23rd-- Robert Crown parent informational meeting. 6:30 PM
June 1st-- Fifth grade bowling
June 3rd-- Robert Crown field trip
English: We will complete our unit on Verbs. There will be a test on Wednesday, May 11th. It will cover lessons 9-15. There will also be a proofreading section which will include all lessons. Later in the week we will focus on persuasive writing.
Science: We will begin chapter 12, Oceans. We will read and learn about the characteristics of the ocean water and floor. Check binders for the chapter 11 test on Monday.
Social Studies: In social studies we will continue chapter 11, The Young United States. We will learn why and how the United States expanded westward. We will also learn more about Thomas Jefferson as President. The students will be making a mini biography book of Thomas Jefferson.

Mrs. Bucklin's Reading Class: We will continue the novel, The Wish Giver. The story is about three children whom each have a wish card. Find out what happens when their wishes come true. Skills we are focusing on our character traits, figurative language and story mapping. Ask your child what colloquialisms are.
Spelling: Unit 28. The test will be on Friday.
Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: We will complete chapter 22, Measurement. The Chapter 22 test is Monday, May 9th. Later in the week we will begin Chapter 9, Data and Statistics. We will start out reviewing mean, median, mode, and range.
