Our fifth grade celebration was a huge success. A special thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time in planning and organizing the day. The students enjoyed it very much!

May 16th- Fifth graders visit to Lakeview
May 23rd-- Robert Crown parent informational meeting 6:30 PM
May 25th-- Last day for Life-Saving grams to be turned in.
June 1st-- Fifth grade bowling
June 3rd-- Robert Crown field trip
English: We will work on persuasive writing. Should public school students wear school uniforms? The students will have to pick a side about uniforms and write a persuasive essay to support their opinion.
Science: We will continue chapter 12, Oceans. An open book quiz on lesson 1 will be given on Monday. Later we will learn the different ways waves form and how the sun and moon cause ocean water to move.
Social Studies: In social studies we will continue chapter 11, The Young United States. We will learn how the Louisiana Purchase expands the size of the country and Lewis and Clark set out to explore the Louisiana territory. The test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th.

Don’t forget to sign up for the 2 mile Walk Day on Tuesday, May 24th at Prairieview School. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan. There will also be a raffle to help raise money for the cause, and any donations would be appreciated. (gift cards, sport items, games, services, small goodies). Anyone who would like to volunteer on May 24th, please e-mail Mrs. Cavoto ccavot@ccsd66.org or Mrs. Sulima Ssulima@ccsd66.org to let them know.

Mrs. Bucklin's Reading Class: We will continue the novel, The Wish Giver. The story is about three children whom each have a wish card. On Monday we will complete a story map of Polly Kemp's story and what happened when her wish came true. Later we will read about Rowena's wish and the trouble her wish caused.
Spelling: Unit 29. The test will be on Friday.
Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: We will continue Chapter 9, Data and Statistics. The students will be creating graphs on the computer. There will be a test on Wednesday. A practice test will be sent home on Tuesday.
