Week of May 2nd

Dear Parents,
I will be sending home permission slips to the Robert Crown Center on Monday. A parent informational meeting will be offered on May 23rd.

Prairieview Talent Show
Talent show slips need to be turned in A.S.A.P. if your child is interested in trying out. Try outs begin Monday! Your child has been given a slip with all the information. It requires a parent signature in order for your child to participate.

Important Dates:
May 12th-Fifth graders to Lakeview Musical 1:15
May 13th- Early release 11:00
May 16th- Fifth graders visit to Lakeview

English: We will continue our unit on Verbs. This week we will focus on verb phrases with have and how to use the words leave, let, teach and learn correctly in a sentence. There will be a test on Tuesday, May 10th. It will cover lessons 9-15. There will also be a proofreading section which will include all lessons.

Science
:
We will complete chapter 11 Weather. The test has been changed to Friday. An open book quiz of lesson three will be given on Wednesday. We will review for the test on Thursday.

Social Studies: In social studies we will begin continue 11, The Young United States. We will learn how political parties emerged in the American government system. We will also read how President Washington organized the Executive Branch around the cabinet.

Mrs. Bucklin's Reading Class: This week we will complete Jacob's Rescue. There will be a vocabulary quiz for chapters 17-21 on Tuesday, May 2nd. The students have a study guide to help prepare for the quiz. Later in the week we will begin the novel, The Wishgiver. Skills we will be focusing on our character traits, figurative language and story mapping.

Spelling: Unit 27. The test will be on Friday.

Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: We will continue chapter 22, Measurement. This week we will learn how to convert customary and metric capacity and weight. We will also review elapsed time and temperature. The Chapter 22 test is scheduled for Monday, May 9th.
