Week of April 18th

The fifth grade class made decorations. Maria Davilla, the manager of Panda Express will have them on display Thursday, April 21, 2011 for the District Eat Out.

English: We will continue our unit on Verbs. This week we will focus on subject-verb agreement. The test for lessons 1-8 has been changed to Wednesday.

Science
:
We will continue chapter 11 Weather. A lesson one open book assessment will be given on Monday. Lesson two focuses on what conditions affect the water cycle. We will describe the changes in the water cycle and learn how the water cycle relates to weather.

Social Studies: In social studies we will continue chapter 10, Forming a New Government. How is your child doing on memorizing the Preamble? They will receive credit before the test if memorized early. This week we will read how after a long debate the states ratified the Constitution and later the Bill of Rights. The chapter 10 test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 27th.

Mrs. Bucklin's Reading Class: This week we will continue a historical fiction novel, Jacob's Rescue. We will focus on the reading skill of cause and effect and also determining the author's viewpoint. There will be a vocabulary quiz for chapter 9-16 on Tuesday, April 26th.

Spelling: No Spelling this week.

Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: We will continue chapter 22, Measurement. This week we will focus on estimating and measuring using appropriate metric units. We will also identify and convert linear units of measurement.
