Week of April 4th

Parents,
On Friday, April 8th we will be having our Geo Space presentation. I am looking for two parent volunteers to help with the program. The time would be from 9:30-11:15. If you are interested, please let me know.

English: We will continue our unit on Verbs. The students will learn how to identify verbs in a sentence and label them as main verbs and helping verbs. We will also learn that a linking verb links the subject in a sentence to a word or words in the predicate.

Science
:
We will begin chapter 11 Weather. We will learn how the sun heats the Earth's atmosphere and how this affects temperature of land and water.

Social Studies: In social studies we will continue chapter 10, Forming a New Government. We are learning that at the Constitutional Convention, a group of leaders wrote the Constitution, a new plan for a stronger national government. The students will be memorizing the "Preamble." They will learn the meaning of these words and how it set the Constitution's major goals.

Mrs. Bucklin's Reading Class:
This week we will begin the novel Jacob's Rescue. We will be reviewing the reading skills of cause and effect, identifying author's purpose, and drawing conclusions.

Spelling: No spelling this week

Mrs. Bucklin's Math Class: We will continue chapter 12, Fractions. This week we will focus on ordering and comparing fractions. We will also learn how to convert fractions in to decimals. The Chapter 12 test is tentatively planned for Thursday, April 14th.
